Pedigrees

According to most experts, your hound is descended from a noble breed going back over 8,000 years. In America, hounds have been raced since the early 1900’s but have been present on this continent as early as the late 1600’s. Because of careful record keeping, in order to avoid inbreeding, racing greyhounds are one of the best documented dogs in existence.

The first inductee into the Greyhound Hall of Fame was in 1963. Only a handful of Greys have been added since then. It is a bit of a bragging right to have “Hall of Famers” in your hound's pedigree, though most all modern hounds have at least one in their background. If there are none, it does not make you hound any less of a special dog. They have that quality just by virtue of being a Greyhound. Your Hound’s Pedigree goes back five generations and is presented in a vertical 8 ½ x 11” format. Hall of Fame inductees are noted, as are dogs born outside the United States.

There are two options available when ordering your hounds pedigree:
Option One: we will email you a PDF file and you can print out the page on your own paper (Requires Adobe Acrobat reader which is free to download)

Option Two: we will print out you hound’s pedigree on a parchment style paper and mail it to you.

When requesting you hound’s pedigree, please send the following: Their exact racing name (spelling is important here), or their ear tattoos (left and right), or their Sire or Dame (dad or mom). This information should be available from your adoption agency. Unfortunately, some dogs were never registered to race (no tattoo). They are extremely difficult to trace, but we will do our best to locate their history. If we can’t find them, you don’t pay. The more information you can provide, the better chance we have of tracing your special dog.
